A Comprehensive List of my FAV Photo Editing Apps

I'm a photographer. I take photos. The original photos look great, but I mean let's step it up a notch, shall we?

I didn't know until recently that editing a photo could be so controversial. Hey guys, newsflash: post-production is just as much a part of photography and just as important.

Look at the image below:

The before is a great photo to post to the gram, but it could totally be better. Why leave it that way when an app or two can help you create a more stunning and eye-catching composition?

Let's start with my number one post-production app that you NEED:

Lightroom. Light. Room. LIGHTROOM.

People, did you really think I wouldn't mention this app? Yes it comes as an app, completely free for the public to take advantage of. This is a super powerful tool in the world of photography. USE IT. Edit like never before. You can literally alter the hues and bring back more detail from the shadows. Talk about HDR.

VSCO

I'm sure you've all heard of this one, but whether it's pronounce V-S-C-O, OR visco, it's a great app to utilize. It has a variety of filter presets for free and filter preset packs you can purchase for cheap.

Many people who like to stick to a theme with there Insta only edit using one, or a couple, filters.

Some of my favorites are the C- Chromatic collection, the H- Polychrome collection, and the N- New Modern collection. Some of they I purchased. I like to bring out bright colors in my photos and make them pop so a lot of these filters cater to that.

Afterlight

I hardly use this for editing my pictures anymore, but it you want to get creative this is the app for you. It allows you to create double exposures, add graphics and much more. Of course it has the normal editing capabilities as well, such as adjusting the exposure, sharpness, crop, but it also has a bunch of filter presets as well.

If you're looking for an old photo effect or a light flash across the photograph this app is perfect. You can add a light flash to your photo and adjust the opacity of it.

NOMO

Ohmygod this app is crazy cool! It’s like a digital Polaroid, if that isn’t a oxymoron for you, I don’t know what is.

You take a picture through this digital viewfinder and it adds the picture to a folder on the app. Click to see all your pictures and it’ll physically show you the Polaroid appearing before your eyes! Just like an actual Polaroid photograph!

If you have any photos from your camera roll you can also add them and they’ll be transformed into an old looking Polaroid picture, except on your phone!

Look how cool and aesthetic this is!

KiraKira+

For just 99 cents you can purchase an app that'll allow you to take pictures and videos and add sparkles to them! Yes this is perfect for any self-proclaimed girly-girl who loves all things sparkly and glittery!

You take the photos and videos in real time or take ones you've taken in the past and add various sparkle filters to them.

These are my favorite photo editing apps at the moment, but I'm always discovering new apps to change the way I edit.

If you use any of these apps of give them a try please comment below!
